Black Label Trading Co. Viaticum Shipping Tomorrow

Aug 26, 2021 | By Thomas Pappalardo

Anew trio of limited-edition maduro cigars called Viaticum from Black Label Trading Co. is shipping to retailers tomorrow.

Originally released in 2019 as a robusto available only to IPCPR (now PCA) trade show attendees, Viaticum is now available in three box-pressed sizes: Robusto, measuring 5 inches by 54 ring gauge; Toro, 6 by 48; and Lancero, 6 3/4 by 40. The cigars will ship in boxes of 20 and have suggested retail prices ranging between $15 to $15.50.

The cigars are rolled with an Ecuador maduro wrapper, a Honduran Habano binder and a mix of fillers from Nicaragua and Honduras, the same blend as the original release.

In a press release, brand owner James Brown referred to the line as an “evolution” of the company’s high-scoring Last Rites blend as it uses most of the same types of tobacco but utilizes different proportions and primings.

Black Label Trading Co. Viaticum is made at Fabrica Oveja Negra, a factory in Nicaragua owned by Brown and his wife, Angela. Production will be limited to 800 boxes of each size for the U.S. market, with additional boxes being shipped to Germany next month.
