From the Cigar Rights of America:
Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officially withdrew its proposed rules for the Tobacco Product Standard for Characterizing Flavors in Cigars and the Tobacco Product Standard for Menthol in Cigarettes.
This decision marks a shift in the regulatory landscape, as these proposals, which aimed to ban flavored cigars and menthol cigarettes, are no longer being considered for finalization at this time.
The withdrawal of these proposed rules effectively removes them from active consideration, meaning the FDA has decided not to move forward with implementing these regulations. While this withdrawal signals a pause in the agency’s efforts, it does not preclude the possibility that similar measures could be reintroduced in the future.
