WITH ITS MOST CAPTIVATING ZODIAC EDITION YET
El Año del Caballo: Plasencia’s Tribute to Power, Grace, and the Art of the Cigar; featuring a hand-braided horse-tail cap inspired by the legendary Flying Horse of Gansu, this limited-edition release redefines cigar craftsmanship.
Miami, Florida— Strength, freedom, and unrelenting momentum take shape in Plasencia Cigars’ most ambitious release to date: El Año del Caballo. Plasencia’s Chinese New Year editions are an ode to heritage, nature, and artistry. A celebration of the timeless bond between man, earth, and the creatures that inspire us.

Drawing on 160 years of excellence, Plasencia created an exceptional cigar that not only pays tribute to the symbolic elegance of the horse but also sets a new benchmark in cigar construction. With only 6,000 museum-grade boxes available worldwide, this objet d’art is a celebration of craftsmanship, culture, and collectability.
“The horse embodies independence, resilience, and forward motion,” said Néstor Andrés Plasencia, fifth generation. “El Año del Caballo is more than a cigar—it is a tribute to mastery in motion. From the rare, braided finish to the power and balance of the blend, this release reflects our legacy and our relentless drive to innovate.”

The centerpiece of the Parejo Gordo (7 x 58) vitola is its signature horse-braid cap, a rare artisanal flourish executed by a trio of expert craftsmen: a master buncher, braider, and roller. The process requires twice the time of a standard cigar and precision humidity control to maintain the cap’s structural integrity. Each braid is sealed with a dual pañuelo wrap, preserving the integrity of this heirloom-quality finish.
The cigar delivers a tasting journey that mirrors the horse’s dynamic energy. The experience begins with a caress of creamy cacao and soft florals, gradually expanding into a core of toasted woods. The finish lingers with roasted nuts and sun-dried raisins — an indulgent interplay of sweetness and strength.

Plasencia’s El Año del Caballo is encased in a collector-grade red lacquer box embossed with a sculpted braid motif. Hued in traditional red and gold—colors symbolic of prosperity and fortune in Chinese culture—the presentation is both stately and ceremonial. At its core lies the inspiration: the Flying Horse of Gansu (2nd century CE), a Han dynasty bronze marvel suspended mid-air on a single hoof, symbolizing balance, motion, and mythic grace. Replicas of this sculpture have been gifted by The People’s Republic of China to global institutions, underscoring its emblematic power.
With just 6,000 ten-count boxes crafted for the world, El Año del Caballo will be available starting November 2026 in select premium tobacconists and luxury lounges across the world. Once sold out, it joins the vault of Plasencia’s most coveted creations.
MSRP: 10-count box $590, Single Cigar $59
