Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Announces Release of Sobremesa Solita “Red”

Dunbarton, NH – Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust® (DTT) will begin shipping the eagerly anticipated Sobremesa® Solita “Red” liga on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025, to select purveyors.

Sobremesa Solita “Red” is a limited-production, 6.25 x 46 parejo, packed in the semi-boîte nature dress box that is synonymous with the brand. The blend is a stronger varietal of the original seven-tobacco core recipe, featuring:

• A dark rosado Grade 1 Ecuador Habano capa
• A San Andrés Negro capote
• A combination of four Nicaraguan tobaccos and a Pennsylvanian Seedleaf tripa

Originally introduced in 2015 under the name Sobremesa, the core liga was rebranded in 2024 as Sobremesa Solita to distinguish it more clearly from its milder Connecticut Shade sister puro, Sobremesa Brulée.

A Passion Project from Steve Saka

Steve Saka, founder and master blender of DTT, shares his connection to this release:

“Sobremesa Solita has a very special place in my heart. Not only was it our debut release, which helped solidify our small family company over the last decade, but I still love the depth and richness of this intricate blend. The fact that the brand continues to grow in a market that often seeks only the ‘new new’ is a testament to its worth.

Although you are not supposed to have favorite children, the thick Lonsdale Cervantes Fino was always my personal favorite. About three years ago, I started tweaking this vitola’s liga to take what was already great and make it, in my opinion, perfect.”

Saka explains that his passion for this blend ultimately led him to discontinue the popular Cervantes Fino in favor of this richer version:

“Quickly, I found myself smoking this richer version more often, which forced me to make the difficult decision to cease production of the Cervantes Fino—understanding the risk of replacing it. But I really had no choice because the ethos of Dunbarton is that consumers should always have access to the exact cigars I personally smoke.

Many makers have special blends they keep for their own private pleasure, but my commitment has always been to offer only what I consider the best of a particular genre. To my palate, the Red is superior to my beloved Cervantes Fino. It retains all the nuances of Dutch-pressed cocoa, Indian Ceylon cinnamon, and anise with a sweet clover honey finish—just heavier in body with more depth.

Now, whether the market agrees remains to be seen, but I knew I had to share this revised liga regardless of commercial implications.”

Packaging & Availability

The Sobremesa Solita “Red” will feature the classic Crown ring in a red colorway to distinguish it from the core Solita blend. It will be available in 13-count dress boxes, with pricing set at:

• MSRP: $17.95 per cigar
• MSRP: $233.50 per box

The initial production will be very limited and will be available only to qualified purveyors.
